Alpha Protocol

The upcoming role-playing game by SEGA is back in the news with the announcement of its release date. Obsidian’s sneaky RPG will release in North America on October 6th. The game will simultaneously launch on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms. The trend of simultaneous releases can be dangerous as we have seen with big-budget Sony titles. The game, titled as “The Espionage RPG”, will put you in the character of a rookie CIA agent working undercover.

The game was under development since 2006 and is inspired from action-packed Hollywood movies like the Jason Bourne trilogy and James bond series. The game was showcased at the E3 expo earlier and looked pretty impressive. Te modern-day RPG features perfectly designed enemy units in great detail. Your combat skills will improve as the game progresses. Your strength, stealth, weapons-handling ability and hand-to-hand combat will improve as you go on fighting and beating enemy units.

The coolest aspect of the game is definitely the way your character adapts to the environment. For example, if you are interrogating someone, your character will dress and act accordingly. You can also pressurize the suspect by putting a gun to his head and creating some violent environment. The interactive game lets you check your e-mail and see the television too. Your actions in the gameplay are reported by the TV news channels.

The game uses Unreal Engine 3 and is pretty well designed as far as graphics and representation are concerned. It will be interesting to see how the game fares once it releases.
