The makers of BlueAnt V1 claim that is the world’s first voice-controlled bluetooth headset. This latest addition from BlueAnt is a successor to the Z9i , which in itself was a pretty good headset. The BlueAnt V1 addresses many of the issues prevalent in the Z9i and promises to be one of the finest bluetooth headsets on the market.
BlueAnt V1Features:
- Bluetooth 2.1
- 5hrs talk time/200hrs standby
- 0.35 oz
- Voice Control Voice Recognition
- Dual Microphones
- Google – Goog 411
- Innovative Tie Clip
- Firmware Upgradeable
- Voice Isolation Technology
- Echo Suppression
- Multiple ear buds
- Wind Noise Reduction
The voice control is one of the coolest features of the BlueAnt V1. Just put it in your ears and switch it on. That’s pretty much it. Unlike other voice recognition software, this one doesn’t need to be trained. Just say the right commands and it will do the job for you. Neat, isn’t it? The only downside to having fixed commands is that you can’t add new commands.
You can ask it to do several things like call a speed dial number, check battery, or even tell you what other commands you have at your disposal. When you get a call, it will announce the number and ask you whether you’d like to receive it.
The headset is capable of using the Goog-411 service, and lets you have the option of either calling a particular number or having its information texted to you. It has excellent noise cancellation and works well in noisy environments.
With all these benefits, the real cherry on the pie is its price-it is available for a very reasonable price of $89.95.
Bluetooth announces 3.0+HS
For all those crazy about their bluetooth headsets, phones, and other devices, things can’t get any better than the new Bluetooth 3.0 + High Speed Standard. Bluetooth 3.0+HS is said to enhance the speed of data transfers for all the devices.
For the devices that have bluetooth as well as Wi-Fi connectivity, the devices will get paired through bluetooth, and the data transfer will happen through Wi-Fi. The data speed available through this method would be up to about 24 Mbps. This is especially welcome news for those gadget enthusiasts who transfer large amounts of data and are looking to somehow get rid of their USB cables. Bluetooth 3.0 is just the answer for them.
The whole idea of faster data transfer relies on the concept of taking the standard bluetooth protocols for connections and putting it on top of the existing 802.11 radio, thus allowing much faster data transfer speeds. Dr. Michael Foley, the executive director of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), said “We’re committed to speedy wireless personal area network connections and we’ll always be looking for the best near term and long term way to accomplish that. The greatness of a generic alternate radio architecture being developed is that it’s adaptable.”
