Transcend Adds a New USB 3.0 Solid State Drive (SSD) to its Arsenal

Earlier this month, well-known memory manufacturer Transcend announced a new addition to its existing Solid State Drive (SSD) collection. The SSD18C3 is a new portable SSD that not only has the advantages of a regular SSD, but also the benefits of USB 3.0. It is a state-of-the-art technology, which has also been designed to be more durable than the other SSDs in its range.

Performance

Although compatible with USB 2.0, SSD18C3 performs much better when connected to a USB 3.0 port. The SSD comes with its own driver that switches on the Turbo mode boosting the USB transfer speed to as high as 260 MB/s with a USB 3.0 connection. In other words, even an entire 4.5 GB file will take no more than 15 seconds to transfer.
