Transcend Adds a New USB 3.0 Solid State Drive (SSD) to its Arsenal

USB 3.0 is a new set of specifications for serial transfer devices that is set to match the requirements of all the possible data-intensive devices and operations right from playing massive HD video files to transferring and backing up large chunks of data in a matter of minutes.

Originally designed by Ajay Bhatt while he worked at Intel, the USB specification has grown significantly and has now become the de-facto standard for communication between a wide range of devices including smartphones, tablets, and even gaming consoles in addition to computers. USB 3.0 represents the next generation in this evolution, and here are some of the most important things about it that make it the standard of the future:

A massive increase in read/write speeds: The increase of speeds due to the inclusion of a SuperSpeed Bus is bound to be nearly tenfold going up to 400 MB/s even after considering all the overheads, whereas we normally see speeds of no more than 40 or 50 MB/s in our existing USB 2.0 devices.
