Corsair is famous for their rubber-clad, tough flash drives. We have tested quite a few of them in the past with impressive test results. With the announcement of the 3.0 USB Super Speed flash drive, Corsair has upped the standards of flash drive yet again. Here is a device that is not just very fast but very rugged too. The maximum G-force you can experience in a fighter plane is 10G; however, Corsair CMFVY3-16GB Flash Voyager can handle up to 40G.

With extreme rugged capabilities and very high speed performance, this is the best of both worlds available in the market right now. You can transfer your data in to the Corsair or maybe participate in an Ironman challenge with the Corsair in your pocket and still expect it to work at the end.

Corsair CMFVY3-16GB Flash Voyager 16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive

Corsair can handle the day-to-day bumps and falls with ease. If you are a klutz with a need for speed, this is your best option.

Features:

•	Fast – Access videos, pictures, and large files up to 4x faster read speeds than traditional USB 2.0 drives.
•	Durable – Corsair’s proprietary all-rubber housing is extremely durable, water resistant, and drop-tested for worry-free transport of your valuable data.
•	Shock Proof – Solid state storage makes Flash Voyager drive virtually shockproof.
•	Convenient – Just plug it in and go! Works with Windows, Mac OS X, and even Linux without drivers.
•	Compatible – Designed for USB 3.0, backward compatible with USB 2.0.
•	Backed by Corsair – A respected name with a passion for quality and customer service

Verdict:

Corsair has got everything right with this product. The speed and safety features – everything seems right. The Flash drive feels great even while holding it. We highly recommend it.

SanDisk – one of the most reliable brands in the external memory segment – is turning up the heat on its competition and fast becoming the force to reckon with. SanDisk Cruzer Blade is one such device that helps the company extend its market share by a long way.

A fantastic value for money, the body of this light and small device is constructed using only plastic, with no metal involved whatsoever. While this may certainly raise doubts over its durability, it still appears to be of quite a sturdy and solid build and design. Remember to attach something – like a lanyard – to this device, which is otherwise sure to be lost given its diminutive size.

SanDisk Cruzer Blade 16GB USB Memory

We also found the Cruzer Blade to be much faster at loading and downloading than its predecessor, the Cruzer. What also impressed us was the price when compared with other memory sticks of similar or lesser capacity.

It would have been great if the Cruzer Blade had standard password protection capabilities to ensure security of the data within it. Also, with no L.E.D. light display, it gets difficult to notice when the device is in use and when it is not.

Features:

•	USB 2.0 removable storage device (downwards compatible to USB 1.1); – supports Win 2000 / ME /XP / Vista, Linux, Windows 7, MacOS X Ver. 10.1.2 or above
•	Extremely small and ideal for the road; with a trendy high-gloss finish
•	Back-up feature: none
•	Retractable USB plug: none
•	Password protected data: none
•	Data transfer rate: 0.01 Mbit/s USB-Standard: USB 2.0
•	U3: none
•	Vista ReadyBoost: none

Verdict:

This is a budget memory stick with limited uses. It can be the drive you are looking for if you intend to use it to store data once as a backup, and not use it for regular everyday use. Otherwise, it may be better off buying one of their more expensive models.

Like Rebecca Black is saying, it’s Friday! Whilst everybody is lookin’ forward to the weekend, let’s not miss out on the latest offering from MemoryBits Product Launch team. It’s rush hour at Rok HO as we gear up to launch our brand new USB 3.0 section. Read on to know what the fuss is all about…
Consider this: with the existing USB 2.0 standard, it can take up to 2 hours to transfer around 500 GB of data. With the new USB 3.0 standard, this process will take as little as 25 minutes. And since we’re committed to bring you nothing but the best from the memory market, here’s what we’ve chosen:

Transcend PCI Express PDU3 USB 3.0 Expansion Card

What will you do with a USB 3.0 flash drive or hard disk if your computer doesn’t support the standard? Sure, they will work just as well as your existing USB 2.0 devices do, but that’s such an awful waste, isn’t it? That’s where a USB 3.0 expansion card will come in very handy.

The Transcend PCI Express USB 3.0 Expansion Card can help you create two superspeed USB 3.0 ports that are fully functional and capable of interfacing with any of the latest storage devices that support the standard today.

Earlier this month, well-known memory manufacturer Transcend announced a new addition to its existing Solid State Drive (SSD) collection. The SSD18C3 is a new portable SSD that not only has the advantages of a regular SSD, but also the benefits of USB 3.0. It is a state-of-the-art technology, which has also been designed to be more durable than the other SSDs in its range.

Performance

Although compatible with USB 2.0, SSD18C3 performs much better when connected to a USB 3.0 port. The SSD comes with its own driver that switches on the Turbo mode boosting the USB transfer speed to as high as 260 MB/s with a USB 3.0 connection. In other words, even an entire 4.5 GB file will take no more than 15 seconds to transfer. In other words, if you’re going to use a large part of a drive’s 64 or 128 GB capacity, the SSD18C3 is an ideal solution.

Durability

Ever lost a whole drive-full of data due to roadbumps or accidental shock to your hard drive? The SSD18C3 can handle all that and keep your data safe due to its slip-resistant silicone casing that is capable of absorbing vibrations. It also inherits all the inherent properties of SSDs such as silent operation, light weight, and greater robustness.

Back-Up System and Data Management Tool

These included tools can make life a lot simpler for anyone using the SSD18C3. All you have to do is touch a button and the drive backs up all your data. It also comes with the JetFlash Elite software package that helps you do a lot more with this drive.

Price

This drive is available in two different storage sizes — 64 GB and 128 GB — for a price of $224 and $448 respectively. So yes, it is a little expensive. But hey, where else are you going to find such an elegant combination of a Solid State Drive and USB 3.0 compatibility?

We keep asking ourselves, what more could someone do with a flash drive, and we keep getting surprised at the answers we get. Consider the Integral 16GB EVO Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Flash Drive for example:

It is a high speed drive that guarantees write speeds of up to 6 MB/s. We realize that the number doesn’t seem very high considering the promised speeds that the recent USB 3.0 devices would provide. However, for a USB 2.0 flash drive, this is still right at the top

It has a smart design where the cap can be attached at the back of the drive when it’s plugged into a port, thereby making it so much easier to manage

It comes with a 2 year warranty

It has a sleek and slim design so that it can easily fit even on confined ports for which today’s notebooks and netbooks are notorious

Even for those users who are still probably living under a cave with Windows 98, the drive comes with a URL from where they can download the required driver and make it work

Lastly, its 16 GB capacity is pretty much the upper limit that USB 2.0 flash drives should have in our humble opinion. After all, can you imagine how painful it would be to copy over 25 GB of data on a flash drive even with write speeds going as high as 6 Mb/s? In the time it takes to accomplish that, you’d probably be able to brew tea, do your laundry, and lose a few pounds of weight.

Gone are the days when FireWire was the only bad boy that offered everything the good-old USB didn’t. USB 3.0 is a new set of specifications for serial transfer devices that is set to match the requirements of all the possible data-intensive devices and operations right from playing massive HD video files to transferring and backing up large chunks of data in a matter of minutes.

Originally designed by Ajay Bhatt while he worked at Intel, the USB specification has grown significantly and has now become the de-facto standard for communication between a wide range of devices including smartphones, tablets, and even gaming consoles in addition to computers. USB 3.0 represents the next generation in this evolution, and here are some of the most important things about it that make it the standard of the future:

A massive increase in read/write speeds: The increase of speeds due to the inclusion of a SuperSpeed Bus is bound to be nearly tenfold going up to 400 MB/s even after considering all the overheads, whereas we normally see speeds of no more than 40 or 50 MB/s in our existing USB 2.0 devices. In layman’s terms, while it would take anywhere between 8 to 12 minutes to transfer a file of size 25 GB, the USB 3.0 interface would let you transfer it in less than 2 or 3 minutes.

Full-Duplex mode: USB 3.0 connectors require 4 wires for SuperSpeed transfers, and while establishing connections for large transfers, it creates multiple streams allowing for data to be transferred a lot faster.

Adapters for legacy devices: Buffalo Technology was the first company to ever introduce a USB 3.0 device back in November 2009, and still offers some of the most popular USB 3.0 interface cards such as the USB 3.0 PCI Express Interface Card and the USB 3.0 ExpressCard Adapter.

Asus and Gigabyte, on the other hand, have come up with entire motherboards that are USB 3.0 compatible.

Some USB 3.0 devices worth purchasing: If you already have a USB 3.0-enabled computer or have installed an adapter, you should really consider the following product that makes full use of this amazing new technology while being easy on your pocket too

Transcend JetFlash® 700: This little robust and beautiful flash drive from Transcend can tap into the massive potential of your USB 3.0 ports and deliver speeds that will leave you gaping at your computer screen. To give you an idea, transferring an entire movie on the drive will be so quick, it will feel like you’ve copied just a small document.

The standard of the future: We are already in the world where Blu-ray rips of movies going up to 10 GB in size and hard disks in excess of 1 TB capacity are commonplace. For such data, a USB 2.0 connection is far from adequate, and it’s only bound to get worse. USB 3.0, therefore, offers a much-needed standard of communication and data transfer that can support the increasing capacity of our devices.

Of course, USB 3.0 is still a relatively new standard and there aren’t many devices on the market that have adopted it just yet. Furthermore, it isn’t expected to acquire any significant market share at least for another year. Therefore, while buying a 3.0 adapter would be a great idea to keep your system up to date, buying an entire system that doesn’t have adequate number of USB 2.0 ports would be jumping the gun a bit too soon.
