The Company of Heroes brand has had some interesting and popular games under its banner. However, this latest Tales of Valor seems like a miniature addition sort of thing to the collection. The game doesn’t have much of a very broad and big storyline but has smaller missions, which offer nothing new and exciting. Although there are three new campaigns, none of these is as interesting as the previous games. Most of them are based on capturing or saving small parts of the French countryside.
As such, this game does not have much of strategy planning, and what is actually required is fast clicking of the mouse button. Even the “direct fire” option to manually monitor the weapons seems useless; besides the multiplayer is also not up to the mark. Also, the three new game modes, Assault, Panzerkrieg and Stonewall are as just as uninteresting as the rest of the game. Combat is the most disappointing.
For those who are regular players of the games that come under the Company of Heroes banner will notice that due to the smaller missions, there is focus on smaller troops and thereby, more focus on individual roles where one also gets to the lead troops. However, the earlier games have happened to set a standard, which this game fails to match; as short as 2 hours are enough to complete this repetitive game. Only those who wish to complete their Company of Heroes collection might want to go in for this one. Others can surely leave it.
