For those individuals who wish to get everyday value performance having a cutting edge above the rest then Inspiron 518 is the right choice. The Inspiron 518 models a 2.4GHz Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 CPU, 3GB of C6400 DDR2 memory, and a 320GB Western Digital Caviar SE16 hard drive (7200 rpm, 16MB cache). Among the many desktops available in the market, Inspiron 518’s ATI Radeon HD3450 turned in gaming frame rates which would happily satisfy any casual user though it stands nowhere near MicroFlex 82B’s nVidia 8800GT graphics. Apart from the performance, Inspiron appears better than its close competitor MicroFlex with smart design flourishing like recessed storage tray region on the top of the system. This tray adds two simply accessible USB ports to the two on face of the unit. The interiors of the Dell Inspiron are reasonably tidy still if the cables were tied up it would look better. There is space for one optical drive and an additional hard drive that must accommodate upgradation needs of majority of the users. The 20 inch wide screen LCD monitor is pleasurable to use and also includes a built in webcam. The windows vista home premium desktop was little cluttered on the Inspiron than on other budgeted PCs seen earlier.
Overall, the Inspiron 518 is a strong system with a smart mixture of performance, smart design and bundled software. The advantage of buying a Dell product is the goodies one year standard support for parts and labor, 24×7 technical phone support and a website offering all the collection of tools needed.
