Generally many reviewers criticize gaming PC’s manufactured by large vendors such as Dell who don’t succeed in keeping themselves updated with the boutique competition.
On comparison of Dell and the Gateway for the performance levels several observations were made. In spite of Dell’s faster CPU clock speed and its larger quantity of random access memory the two successfully end up in draw every time. The OverDrive was designed to make overclocking the PC easy and it was found that it worked well.
One shall ensure that the individual has the “Black Edition” of AMD’s Phenom II chips that comes with an unlocked clock multiplier. Luckily, Dell’s XPS 625 comes up with all the AMD chips fitting under the bill. Some of the exclusive features of XPS 625 are the 750 watt power supply and Alienware’s fun yet gimmicky AlienFX lighting software which converts light colors, adjusts lights to blink with new email. Also, this model allows the user to add one or even up to two faster 3D cards even despite overclocking. Other than the power supply Dell offers user with fair number of slots and bays including two PCI Express graphics card slots, two standard PCI slots and a 1x and 4x PCI express slot for card expansion.
The hard drive layout is also impressive featuring four bays facing outwards, each with a removable plastic drive tray and the power and data cables nicely lined up ready for expanded internal storage. As usual one gets one year standard warranty plan and other technical support with this product.
