Halo 3 for XBOX 360 : A review

XBOX junkies, we have a brand new game review for you today. Halo 3, the last one of Halo trilogy released earlier this week, has almost no details let out in its previews, in keeping with Bungie’s tradition of maintaining complete secrecy about their new release. Well, BlogBits team has managed to get you an as early review of the game as possible.

Storyline

Arbiter, the in charge of the Covenant forces gets his hands on a mysterious super weapon left by the extinct Forerunners. They also have a powerful infantry at their disposal which includes energy sword equipped Elites, Hunters and Brutes. Now, the Covenant gets control over Earth and the Flood is unleashed. With trouble all around, Master Chief, the warrior born for combat is humanity’s only hope. Even though the Covenant outnumbers the UNSC, they do not have a choice but to face the them bravely as the stakes are too high.

XBOX 360: Halo 3 – The thing that ticks

Controlling the iconic units from the series is one of the best things about Halo Wars. You can control up to three of the series’ iconic Spartans, who can hijack enemy vehicles, or pilot friendly vehicles to boost their effectiveness. Barrage of marines, Spartans, Warthogs and Scorpions are a great addition to the UNSC forces. You also have Flamethrowers, Cyclopes, and the Cobras’ and Wolverine vehicles which work great against infantry, structures, vehicles and aircrafts respectively. The Covenant forces are equally strong with a powerful infantry, including the Wraith battle tanks, powerful Locust and the gargantuan scarabs.
The game is short with a great epic and compelling story-line along with the next-generation, high definition visuals. This sci-fi game presents a well known “Halo” universe which appears as it’s never seen before. The high dynamic lighting makes every scene and every character look and feel authentic and the simple control scheme makes the game easy to play. The game allows the players a choice of Covenant or UNSC forces.

The Graphics:

Even though the scenarios appear to be complex, it is very easy to navigate through them. Menu screens are easily accessible allowing base construction and deployment of troops to be handled. It provides two game modes, on-line and off-line. The single player story mode offers 16 levels, starting with a tutorial mission for players who are new to the game. The game supports four-player split-screen and a system-link game-play, letting gamers battle it out online using the Xbox LIVE or with a group of friends in the living room.

The Levels

Halo Wars is a strategic game which requires you to produce a lot of resources before building an army at each level. The Covenant and the UNSC both are required to produce resource, vehicles, infantry and aircraft, or research more powerful units. You have to concentrate on using your limited forces to complete the objectives specified. The game lets you do a number of things like escort missions, recapture lost bases; defend while waiting for rescue and a lot more.

Now on to mundane stuff – the official features.
