HP Pavilion dv6-1240ea

The new Pavilion Entertainment notebook by HP will use their imprint technology to produce attractive, glossy look. The £699 notebook is expected to aim at a generation which has no problem in spending some extra money for features. The 2.88kg is pretty lightweight, considering its size.

The notebook is powered by a 2.1GHz Intel Core2 Duo processor with 4GB of RAM. Internal hard drive of 500GB is more than enough to keep your entertainment content. Windows Vista Home Premium is perfect for movie-lovers and internet-TV subscribers. 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530 graphics technology will enable enhanced HD video playback and gaming. Extra facilities include a webcam, memory card reader and Lightscribe dual layer DVD burner.

The Pavilion PC has all usual ports including 4 high-speed USB ports, HDMI support, VGA output, ExpressCard slot, 5-in-1 card reader, voice in/out ports, etc. The 6-cell Li-ion battery is good enough to work for more about four hours.

The notebook comes with a lot of HP-customized softwares including bespoke HP apps and Norton Security System. HP Total Care is one of the best customized support software available in the market. But sometimes, with all these softwares, boot-up and start-up processes can be a pain. Plus, the notebook misses a Blu-Ray drive which should have been included in the £699 notebook. Because of lack of key entertainment features, some people could consider it a bit pricey. But the combination of attractive looks and powerful specifications could prove to be worth the money.
