For anyone who just loves cooking, and gadgets too, take a look at these little numbers that were dreamed up for a competition which asked for kitchen gadget designs for the future.

The ’scratch my back’ is a very interesting grater but made in the shape of a cute looking hedgehog. The clever design means that the arched back will allow food to drop through without having to hold the grater away from the dish. ‘Grate’ stuff!

Another gadget in the same competition was the salt and pepper orbs that seemingly float above the table. Using magnetism to make the orbs hover above the plate makes these excellent conversation pieces as well as being innovative and just plain handy to have around. Called the Plus Minus F, this set up will certainly hit the spot for forward thinking lovers of food.

Now for something a little bit useless in many people’s eyes, the square egg maker. Simply boil the egg in the usual way, peel it, cool it down and then put it in the egg press. The odd thing is the even the yoke comes out square. At just $5 this may be one of those silly gadgets that sit at the back of the drawer for years, but one plus point is that it makes eggs easier to store, and it looks good when cutting up for party food.
