Nikon has introduced a new DSLR camera model, D60, which promises to be a great new tool in the hands of photography enthusiasts and photographers alike.
There are similarities among the D60 and the other models of Nikon, but it does have a handful of exciting features that are worth mentioning. The D60 is quite similar to the D40x model, but has a list of new features and enhancements added to it. With a 10.2 megapixel resolution, the Nikon D60 offers an ISO sensitivity ranging from 100 to 1,600, with the ability to extend the sensitivity to ISO 3,200. The Nikon D60 has a 2.5” LCD display with 230,000 pixel resolution and a 170 degree viewing angle. It also has a full array of automatic and manual exposure modes, an extensive in-camera image editing, some modes tuned for specific situations, like portrait Landscape, Child, Sports, Close up and Night portrait. Additionally, you get the highest possible image quality thanks to the EXPEED image processor inside the NIKON D60.
Nikon has kept pace with the enormous development in the field of DSLR. It has always added new features to its latest innovations. The D60 includes many features from the D40 and D40x. It is easy to use and has the same body design and control layout. It has the same 3-point auto focus, and the same 3.0 frame/second continuous shooting speed. The only difference in the Nikon D60 is the D60 badge on the front panel.
The New Additions to Nikon D60 Camera
Continuous-Mode Burst Length- One of the advanced technologies added to the D60 is the maximum burst length in continuous mode. The Nikon D60 is capable of 100 JPEG shots without pausing, or up to 6 RAW ones.
Dust Reduction- The anti-dust system, a new feature for Nikon’s model is one of the most important factors that photographers look for. Dust is an irritating phenomenon that every DSLR photographer experiences, therefore the Airflow Control System is a great addition.
Active D-Lighting- The contrast-adjustment technology called D-lighting evaluates images and intelligently cuts brightness in extremely luminous areas and boosts brightness in gloomy areas to further enhance the picture details. You can apply the Dynamic D-Lighting on a shot by simply pressing the button just behind and to the left of the shutter button and turn the command dial.
Stop-motion movie- The D60 also involves a fun feature; it lets you produce an animated movie. All you have to do is collect objects, plan a series of motions for them, and then snap a series of photos, moving the objects in small increments between the shots. Then you use the Stop-Motion Movie option on the Retouch Menu to make a continuous movie.
Eye sensor to turn off LCD display- The energy consumption of the Nikon D60 will surely benefit from the eye-sensor, since it deactivates the LCD monitor as soon as the optical viewfinder is used.
RAW Processing in-camera- Along with the choice of shooting RAW only or RAW plus, it also lets you develop RAW files into JPEGs in-camera. You can apply any combination of camera settings to the RAW file.
If photography has won your heart, the D60 definitely appears poised to blow your mind away. Here’s the list of items the D60 kit ships with:
