Nintendo DS Game card – Just another accessory

Nintendo DS game card is a memory storage card just like any other memory card that fits into a computer, laptop or digital camera. The game card weight is around 3.5 grams. Its specifications are 33.0mm*35.0mm*3.8mm. The specifications are half the size of the Game Boy Advance cards.

The Nintendo DS game card is compatible with the Game Boy Advance cards. Nevertheless, it is not attuned to the Game Boy Colour and the original Game Boy consoles. This difference is due to the different voltage requirements and form factor requirements. Even more, there is no compatibility slot available in both the consoles. Whereas the Game Boy Advance has, a slot provided on top on the console to put the Nintendo game card and the bottom slot is provided to support the Game Boy Advance cards.

The Nintendo DS game card has a small flash memory. The game card is based on the Read only memory technology or electrically erasable programmable read only memory. That is, it saves data for short period and erases it once the console is switched off. The memory storage capacity ranges from 64MB going up to 512MB.

The downplay option in the console allows access to multi player games with the help of only one game card. For this, one must have other consoles in the range of 60 feet and it requires the other consoles to download data. However, once the console is switched off the Nintendo memory card loses complete data downloaded.
