Recently the Nintendo Wii games console has become the UK’s most searched for Christmas gift and it’s no surprise really. Nintendo Wii has put the fun back into gaming and got rid of all the complication letting them create and develop a whole new level of interaction not witnessed before. The style of the games available to the Nintendo Wii users and the way you play them means they are accessible to anyone of any age, which shows why the console is so popular.
The Nintendo Wii actually beat one of its own products to take the top spot. The Console overtook the Wii Fit in internet search charts and at the same time Nintendo’s own DS Lite has become the fastest growing console online. They must be over the moon down at Nintendo head quarters. Nintendo must be getting used to being at the top as they once again dominate UK’s festive online shopping searches. The Wii and DS Lite have held the top two spots as most searched for products online in November 08.
It was back in October when the two took over the previous leader the Wii Fit. It didn’t however take too much attention or sales away from the Wii Fit as its sales continued to boom keeping it well secure as the most searched for game. Things probably couldn’t get any better for Nintendo but it has and their selling magic continues. In addition to all this success, searches for gaming accessories have increased by a staggering 114% and this was just between the months of October and November. So what accessory was getting people throwing their hard earned money at? The Wii Remote! Like us, you may think its just an interesting statistic, but the sales for the remote actually doubled during this period.
Nintendo must love the Christmas period, it’s almost like deja vu they have won the battle and taken the title of top console this Christmas and it was similar story last year.
The Wii and DS Lite have left Microsoft’s XBOX 360 and Sony’s PlayStation flapping around in the mud like a couple of confused amatuers. The two products from Nintendo received incredible amounts of searches during November, figures saying they had around two thirds, that’s right almost two thirds of all console searches. That worked out to be over twice as many searches for the Nintendo Wii as for the XBOX 360 from Microsoft and, you might want to sit down for this one, three times as many searches as for the PlayStation 3 from Sony. They should change the name of the month to Nintendo. It makes you wonder, with Nintendo dominating the festive search for the products what are they going to develop for next year that is going to have us going crazy on search engines trying to find them.
