Nokia 5800 Xpress Music is a sharp, slim, touchscreen phone that comes along with a 3.2 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 3G support. The compact phone is 4.37 inches long and 2.04 inches wide. The touchscreen is pretty big, measuring about 3.2 inches, which can be compared to that of the iPhone.
5800 has two camera lenses -a 3.2 megapixel lens on the back, and the VGA lens for self portraits, located just above the display. The talk button, end button, and the menu control are situated below the display. The volume rocker, camera shutter, and the handset-locking switch are located on the right side. The SIM card and a slot for the microSD card go on the left.
The accelerometer lets you switch between the landscape-menu and the portrait-menu views by rotating the phone. The display is quite responsive, just that certain applications require a single click while some might require a double click, which might cause a little confusion. You can also have a list of handwriting options simply by adjusting the calibration. On touching the little icon next to the XpressMusic sign just above the display, you get a menu on your screen where you can launch music, view your picture gallery, play videos, and more.
On the downside, scrolling is not as smooth as the iPhone. The buttons on the phone dialer do not show the corresponding letters. Even though the phone provides a full keyboard for dialing, entering a person’s name in the automated phone directory becomes a little inconvenient without the letters on the dialer.
