Panasonic Evolta Batteries

Panasonic have come out with the world’s longest lasting AA battery, so much so that this feat is officially recognized by the Guinness World Records. The discharging capabilities of this new battery have gone up by almost 1.5-2 times as compared to the Panasonic’s other alkaline batteries. Evolta is available in the market since late April, 2009 and the cost of a pack of four AA or a pack of four AAA is around $5.6.

A lot of changes have been made to the actual structure of the battery to improve its performance by leaps and bounds. Some of the changes brought about are:

  • The thickness of the body of the battery has been reduced by almost 17-20%, in order to increase the activity of active materials.
  • On the other hand, the thickness of the sealing portion has been increased in order to increase the strength.
  • To increase the total surface area, the amount of fine particles was increased to allow multiply the reaction of zinc at the negative electrode. Also, a new inhibitor has been used to nullify the action of impurities on zinc without disturbing the reaction.
  • Using absorption and utilizing the difference in pressure, Panasonic has also increased the amount of electrolyte in the cell.
  • At the time of forming the negative electrode, the density of the electrode material is increased, whereas, while forming the positive electrode the density of the electrode material is decreased.
  • Panasonic has added some amount of Titanium Oxyhydroxide to the standard materials Graphite and Manganese Dioxide used in forming the positive electrodes. The addition of Titanium Oxyhydroxide, increases the amount of discharge.

With the launch of Evolta, Panasonic is most likely to shift all its focus from the oxy-ride batteries to the Evolta because the Evolta’s high performance is no match for the oxy-ride battery and also the Evolta is only 4-5% more expensive than the oxy-ride batteries.

So, now with the use of Evolta, you can use your products freely without having to fear about the battery life getting over in no time. This offering from Panasonic re-asserts the dominance Panasonic have in the Battery-manufacturing industry.
