Has anyone ever heard the expression ‘I was so tired I could have slept standing up’? Well, we can do just that now that the Vertical Bed has been invented. It comes with black sunglasses, noise cutting earphones and a stand alone umbrella so that the person can snooze away while waiting for an appointment. The question is though, who would want to sleep upright? Doesn’t this put the person in a very vulnerable position? Strange but true indeed.

For those who love to know about conceptual gadgets, here comes the Asus Stealth laptop that thinks it is a desktop. With a few alterations it changes from a laptop into a fully fledged destop and has a rimless keyboard, 17 inch screen and all the other bits and pieces that go with today’s forward thinking computers. Because it is ultra thin it looks good in tablet mode but still has things like a DVD burner etc on board. It is doubtful whether this design will ever see the light of day, but stranger things have happened.

And for something that sounds strange but actually could have a use, try the Help Lock Door Knob. This gadget, also still in the design stage, actually calls for help if a person is in a room for too long. This could be useful on bathroom doors, or for where elderly people or the disabled are known to be living. It contacts a programmed number should the first warning alarm not be turned off.
