Tales of Monkey Island – Episode 1, PC

Partnering with Tell Tale games, Lucas Arts with Tales Of Monkey Island is back in action after almost a decade to provide the gamers a taste of fun loving adventure as the name in itself tickles the funny bone.

Tell Tale games who have previously entertained us with adventure gimmicks like Wallace&Gromit, has planned to take a slightly different route this time to experiment with the story in a narrative manner with a total of five episodes so the players will have to play the entire series to get the full blown story.

Guybrush Threepwood, the central character and leading hero of the entire series is trapped on the shores of an island while trying to outdo a zombie pirate called LeChuck in order to save his wife Elaine. This kick starts the adventure of solving puzzles using props like cheese wheel and the pirate’s underwear to set himself  free.

Episode 1 has Guybrush navigating through the jungle using a treasure map encountering obscurely mysterious instructions to reach to the destination as fast as possible. It has been designed brilliantly and is quite witty when it comes to cris-crossing some key locations that you might miss.

The voice cast of the characters is amazing but the drawback is the dialogue delivery which tries hard to be amusing but does not quite hit the mark. Overall it a fun addictive package for the adventurous lot but the wait period is high for the series to conclude to a logical ending.
