The growth of the Keyboard

The keyboard has seen a lot of evolution that is so peculiar of so many other computer devices too. However, the basic concept of computer input and output devices has mostly remains the same. We still need the screen to ’see’ what is happening on the computer, we still need the motherboard and processor along with some other hardwares to do the thinking for us. And, we need the keyboard and mouse to make communication with the computer. The keyboard, has evolved from the long run of mechanics into touch based and laser based compact pieces of plastic beauty.

Once upon a time, the keyboard was just a part of the typewriter that did not have a bit if electronics in it. In the world of computing, the keyboard is one input device that is nearly the lifeline of the user and machine interaction. With the advancement of the recent modern technology, whether it be wireless, touch sense, or more, the keyboard still remains the main way of interacting with the computer. Of course, in the situation of devices like iPhone, where there is not ‘keyboard’ as such, you do have the touch screen that tries to enact the keyboard. All in all, the keyboard, in whatever form, cannot be ignore or done away with as yet. Whether in touch or physical forms, we still depend on keys to perform various functions. Today, keyboards rules as a way of communicating with the computer.
