The Samsung SE-208 USB2.0 8x Slim External DVD Writer [SE-208AB] is great and performs the same way my old drive did. However, the transformer unit on my old drive is no longer required and the new drive is ideal for my net-book. It's great!

I have found this product really useful. My laptop DVD drive broke and this was a far cheaper option than getting it fixed. I've used it to backup music CD's and video DVD's and I've had no problems even when accidently moving the DVD writer during the process. I always use it with both USB plugs in, which is not a problem as I have two USB slots together on my laptop.

Its a cute product. Bought it because my CD on my Apple laptop broke and its a relative fortune to replace. Works well and being powered from either one of two USB sockets (depending on your machines output) you don't need to cart around a power supply. Its small and light so for the money its a bargain. Also use it with my netbook and it works fine there too. Its innovative, useful and convenient.

The unit arrived well packed,but no drivers for mac.But good old Apple recognised the drive.Other than that a good unit,had to buy as my optical drive stopped working.Recommended
